Uh no, all of this is handmade except for the jacket. Yeah, man. Um worked on the gun holsters, the guns, the strap system for the chest piece, and the helmet, helmet got lights in it, little padding, but yeah, other than that, that's wild.

Yes, I am. Yeah, what's on your list? Oh, uh, let me think. We got the um are the Enerjon Sister uh Energron University that one, the Spider-Man one, the DC ones, all that kind of stuff.

Yeah, but then um That's that DC all win that they've got, yeah.

Yeah, pretty much that's the plan anyway, is to see what's left. But yeah.

Yeah, nice. And uh what's your uh what's your top comic book that you're reading at the moment? What's the one that at the top of your pool list?

I feel like a lot of people are gonna say this, but have to do that manage. That's on a roll right now, so I collect all the variant covers too, and holy crap. Like some issues again, a hundred different variants, it's crazy. Yeah, yeah.

Well, I had to get it out of my pocket just uh just as a reference, but sorry, I've got Night Out on the Lake, I've got Lego Batman for obvious reasons, uh the Alien Predator Planet of the Apes collection, and then also Flash Gordon. Flash Gordon, what a stupid. I don't know much about Flash Gordon, but I was like, I know the song. Yeah. Um and I wanted to uh yeah, like it was just like, oh check that out. Whereas like Alien and Predator Love those. Um Lego Batman, excited for that game, and the comic should be fun. Never read a Lego Batman comic, but I didn't know that they did that.

Yeah, well Flash Gun's been around a long time. Yeah, he's like way way before Marvel and DC, and um so way back in the 40s, so uh so yeah, it's a wild ride and it's a lot of fun, and uh a lot of uh characters were heavily influenced after. Oh, yeah, of course. Well it's like Star Wars. Yeah, that's right.

So George Licker's got a little bit of a lot of things.

That's right. So um, so yeah, and what what's uh what's on your your pull list at the moment? What are you reading at the moment? Uh the absolute stuff.

Yeah. So I've got well, I've got to check today to see what is out, but yeah, I've been getting like Absolute Batman, Wonder Woman, um Absolute Batman's really, really good. I've also been keeping up with the new Phantom, yeah. Um which is a really good run. It's like him sort of yeah, back to its roots, like he's in the jungle defending a village against like some bad guys. Yeah. Um yeah, really cool, but it's you know, modern and up to date with like great art and everything. Um yeah, so it's like it's a lot of that, and then yeah, like I said, absolute. What about you?

Absolute, absolute is is yeah, is on everyone's top of everyone's list. So yeah, that's wild. Awesome. Well, um, good luck grabbing the comics. Thank you. And um and uh thanks so much. No worries, that's fun.

For me, I'm interested in the amazing Spider-Man comic and pretty much everything on there except the Sonic one, I would say.

Kind of the same, um, but yeah, for me, it's more um so I'm interested in the Alien Predator, part of the Apes one.

Yeah, awesome. And um so obviously, comic book fans, what are you what are you reading at the moment? What's your what's on the top of your pull list?

I'm actually pretty new to this whole comic book because this is my first like I guess comic book giveaway. Yeah, yeah.

Yeah, that's awesome. That's great. Yeah, I'm more of a like Superman X-Men kind of fan, so yeah, those like my favourites.

So are you reading Absolute, any of the absolute books?

I I want to get around to Absolute Wonder Woman actually, because I've heard like really good things about that. Yeah, definitely. Yeah, I haven't read Absolute yet. I'm like um, yeah, I'm still reading um, let me think. I'm I'm like reading World's Finest right now.

Yeah, I gotta pick up my stand in order, and then I was just about to get the Ascender complete edition. Yeah, nice.

And what's on uh what's on your pool list at the moment? What's like at a top?

SPEAKER_11 6:29

Uh top, love it. My pool list at the moment it is very mainstream. Uh like the main two, well, mainly just DC. Uh obviously the absolute titles love and absolute Batman and Absolute Martian Man Hunter. Yeah. They're fantastic, and also an uh assorted crisis events is great. Uh I've only like yeah, I only read two Dennis Camp titles, but I think he's gonna be someone that I'm gonna be following a lot.

Yeah, and Martian Man Hunter's obviously coming to a close. Yes. Um, and uh it was announced this week that uh there's gonna be an absolute sort of uh crossover uh series. Uh with um Martian Manhunters gonna be sort of the main uh the main feature of that and bringing all the characters together. Right, I did not know that. Yeah, so if you're a Martian Manhunter fan, I'm sure you're gonna really dig this uh this this this new crossover that you're gonna do. So it's pretty wild, isn't it? Um absolute, who would have thought?

Well that's yeah, well, because I stopped reading comics back in 2019. It was basically the absolute that got me back into it.

And um and what what comics are you? I can see that you've got your list there and kind of working out what you're getting. Do you know what what uh what comics you are you're after?

Well, we were hoping for Dungeon Crawler Carl, but it's already sold out. Very popular. Uh I'm running pretty DC heavy, I think. But I want to get one or two that I wouldn't normally buy. So I'm just having a little look around my list right now.

I'm about two years age. Yeah, I'd decide properly collecting with Fretch and Batman. Yeah. That's my job.

Yeah, pretty much. Yeah. Yeah. I grabbed her in with the DC Sonic crossover.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. And they've got the action figures actually out now, it's cool. Which is really cool. So um so well that's great because there's quite a few people that are new to collecting.

So um I've heard the absolute lines draw in a hell of a lot of people.

Yeah, if you're if you're a Batman fan, yeah, it's it's it's a rad very, very wild ride. So yeah, highly recommend it. But um, you're nearly at the front end. So good luck. Um and um and thanks for your time.

I think the big one for both of us we we both saw Decidium. Yeah, yeah, which looked just amazing. Yeah.

And Inana as well. Yeah. Um that looked really beautiful, so I really wanted a copy because I think when um I arrived they said that the stock was running really low for that one as well. Yeah, yeah.

Are you excited about the uh the the follow-up to this? Or yeah, are you aware that Tom Taylor made an announcement and that's there's gonna be a um yeah, there's gonna be a sequel book um that's gonna be released uh later in the year. Um so yeah, well we'll go. Okay, that's amazing. It's gonna be great reading for you then, knowing that there's uh there's gonna be a sequel then. That's rad. Um what about you? What have you what have you picked up?

I was hoping that maybe you'd have they'd have an absolute flash of the second volume. Yeah. Um but not yeah, I'm a big fan of the Oh that absolute wonder. Yeah, everyone.

Yeah, and do you know about the um the crossover that's coming later in the year?

Yeah, well, yeah, that's a relatively new comment.

Like I'm superheroes have been bigger than me for a while, but YouTube, I've been more into like the animation and like the shows and the comics themselves.

Um yeah, so it really just for me absolute comics is really the start of where I was sort of getting into everything. Obviously, I knew all the backstory for everybody. Yeah, yeah, but um just because it's its own sort of encapsulated series, it felt very accessible to get into.

Yeah, nice, nice. That's so good. That's so great. That's um crazy awesome. Um, and so you've um come in uh cosplay today as well. Yes, yeah, yeah, so so tell the tell tell the listeners what you've um what you've come at.

Oh, okay, yes. Um so I'm Simo and I came as uh Cassandra Kane. Yeah, nice because I've been so obsessed with her comics and I just had to dress as my goat, basically.

Uh it's funny because I was here earlier this morning and I was in line, but I was actually in the wrong line. Um I thought I was um in the in the lines come upstairs as opposed to getting the free comic books? No, I thought I was in the line for the free comic book one, but it turns out I was in the one for the family and kids. Oh no! Yeah, so I got them all mixed up.

And you've got no family and kids with you, so you didn't get a you didn't get a pass.

Nah, so um I was going to wait in the other line, but I just thought it was way too long, so I decided to come back a bit later when I stopped into Minotaur for that. Um not as cool compared to here.

And so are you new to comic books or are you uh No, um I've um I've loved reading comic books since I was a kid. I used to read and collect um Deadpool comics. Yeah, nice. Yeah, a few other Marvel DC comics, um but I stopped for a while and nowadays when it comes to comics, like I'm not really uh up to date or familiar with all the runs, and I don't really collect any sort of runs. Like whenever I get a comic, I try to get like a graphic novel or it's just one complete story.

Yeah, yeah. Are you reading the absolute any of the absolutes or uh yes I am.

I am actually following absolute Batman. I don't own any of the physical copies, but I am following the story and I think it's really good.

Yeah, it's amazing, isn't it? Yeah. Are you happy with um with the uh translation of uh Deadpool coming from comics to into uh mainstream films?

Yeah, um I remember when it first came out, like um the first Deadpool movie, uh I was so excited and I thought it was uh amazing because um I've always been a big fan of Deadpool since I was a kid. Yeah and seeing the movie was just um you know something that I longed for. Yeah. But now I don't know, it just kind of feels like you know, whenever I see Deadpool in the movies, it just feels like it's Ryan Reynolds just being Ryan Reynolds. With a mask, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like it feels um a lot different compared to comic Deadpool, especially like older Deadpool in like the early 2000s.

Yeah, yeah, he was pretty wild back in the day, wasn't he?

Yeah, it just feels different. It just feels like it's just Ryan Reynolds just being Ryan Reynolds.

Uh I lined up at about 12 and I made it in about 10 minutes ago.

Uh unfortunately I was really hoping for Dungeon Crawler Carl, but I think that one sold out pretty quickly.

It went really, really quickly. Oh not sold out, ran out very quickly. It did, it did. Um, but did you get what else did you get in your in your free comic book, Liz?

I got a new thing for me, which is Mr. Magic. Yeah. It just seemed like a very interesting title that I wanted to learn a bit more about. Yeah, that looks rad. Uh I got Masters of the Universe, D edition. Classic.

Absolutely.

Yeah, are you a fan?

Uh it's a series that like it's an old series that I didn't watch growing up, but I know my parents did, so I'm really excited to see He-Man again and things like that.

Uh just a classic and DC uh Sonic crossover. Yeah, not something I've seen before, but I thought it might be fun. Yeah, very cool.

They've got action figures now in the uh in the in the stores. Really? Yeah, so uh you've got um I think you've got Sonic as uh as as as the Flash and another one as something else. And yeah, and I think that's what the uh that book is that you're gonna see there is um but uh and so you're upstairs now uh getting getting some books. Uh mostly I'm just trying to see if there's any new titles that I haven't seen before, but also I've realized now there's a Voxmark and a uh comic series. So I'm like, oh well, I guess I need to uh add that one to my collection.

Yeah, and you're watching uh have you watched the series? I've watched the series.

Uh my friends watched the podcast and got me into the series and it's like, ah, this is really good.

Yeah, and it's and and it's well worth the watch.

Uh definitely something I'd recommend, yeah.

Yeah, absolutely. And and anything else that uh that's on your on that your eyes are running over and you're going, oh, I should probably get get get a copy of that.

Uh not yet. I've only been up here for about five minutes, but I'm sure there'll be something else that catches my eye.

Yeah, and um with uh with relation to regular books, what are you usually reading?

SPEAKER_02 17:46

Um I mean I've always been a huge fan of fantasy and sci-fi. Um and you know, I try to come out to the comic book day when it happens every year. Yes. Uh actually very recently I started an old sci-fi book, which is Stranger in a Strange Land, which I'm sure is a very big classic for anybody listening.

That's so rad. That's awesome. Hi Lachlan. Um we're upstairs at All Star uh and you're looking for a few comics. Did you line up? Did you line up?

SPEAKER_10 18:14

I uh went at the front and actually uh asked Troy if I could uh just head into the shop because we'd uh earlier today we joined the line. Uh waited 20 minutes and we only moved a few meters. Oh no. We we we came back and just uh heading into the shop.

Yeah, nice. And uh yeah, I well I hear the line was anywhere between three and uh two and three hours. So it's uh it's a it's a long wait for for free comic books. But um and so uh so you're up here looking for books at the moment, are you? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, and and you uh are you a long time collector?

SPEAKER_10 18:48

Yeah, I am. I actually started collecting uh two years ago. Yeah, nice.

SPEAKER_18 18:51

And what's what's on the on the top pile of your list?

SPEAKER_10 18:55

Top pile, yeah. Definitely the DC Absolute Universe.

Yeah, it seems to be a fan favorite today. Um is it is it uh Batman in particular, or or is it Superman or Flash or Green Lantern? Which one's your favourite out of the absolutes?

SPEAKER_10 19:10

For me it's uh I'd say between Superman and Wonder Woman. Yeah, oh Wonder Woman, yeah. I'm a big fan of uh Wonder Woman's run at the moment.

SPEAKER_18 19:18

Yeah, and and you're enjoying sort of that that that mystic sort of magic sort of approach to Wonder Woman. And the art is amazing. Yeah, Eddie Ed Sherman, yeah. Yeah, Ed Sherman's sort of an amazing job. So that's that's wild. Um and uh outside of Absolute, what other what other books are you are you interested in, or is that kind of the bread and butter?

SPEAKER_10 19:38

Well, I guess what got me into comics uh two years ago was uh catching up on Claire Mont's Uncunny X-Men.

SPEAKER_18 19:44

Very nice, very nice, yeah. Yeah, that's it. It was nice for him to come back, right, and do do another run of uh of of the X-Men. So yeah, yeah, yeah. Because he was back in the day in the 80s, he did a fairly big run. So um and um yeah, it the the books aren't the same without him, so uh they're definitely different directions. Yeah, absolutely, that's for sure. Um and uh and and so uh are you gonna try and get a couple of free comic books when you go back downstairs, or you're not you're not worth not worth the wait? I guess I could ask.

Let's see. I'm I'm I'm happy with uh what I'm looking at here. Uh Batman one run, yes.

SPEAKER_18 20:23

Oh, this is the crossover that they've they've they've done, which is uh it's uh truth, isn't it? Like Yeah. Yeah, so do you know much about this this this this uh this this run that they're gonna do?

SPEAKER_10 20:35

I think this might be a one-shot. Yeah, the one shot. It's like a bridge between hush and hush too, I think.

SPEAKER_18 20:42

And it's um the lasso where truth is stolen. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So uh so uh Batman is uh so I think Wonder Woman's uh enabled Batman to come and you know, because he's the detective, yeah, um, he's gonna sort of track down as to who stole the lasso of truth. So um but it's not Wonder Woman Wonder Woman without a lasso, right? So she kind of needs it. She's gotta get it back. Yeah, she's gotta get it back. Yeah, I've well and truly lost count of how many of those. Daredevil as well. We're selling a lot of Daredevil today. Which is great. Yeah, well. Um but yeah, no but everything across the board. It's great fun.
